Rifles Race In Support of DASCH and St. Amant
18 FEBRUARY 2019 — On Saturday, February 16th, Luke McMillan, Thomas Moline, Riley Naujoks, Troy Wilson and Brandon Urciuoli participated in the Wild Winter Canoe race at Shaw Park in support of DASCH and St. Amant. These fine young Rifles raised over $1,000 in support of people with intellectual disabilities in Manitoba.
On their first heat they had a difficult time navigating the turn, but still managed to win their heat. On their second heat they improved their time by over 5 seconds and won their second heat as well, but came up just short of the finals by 1 tenth of a second.
A great job by these young men in their races, but more importantly a great job raising over $1,000 dollars for their fellow Manitobans. Our organization is very proud of them! Rifle up!
Scheibler joining Rifles
29 NOVEMBER 2018 — The Winnipeg Rifles have dipped back into the northwest Ontario talent pool for their latest recruit. Former Fort Frances Muskies running back Sekina Scheibler has committed to join the Canadian Junior Football League’s Prairie Football Conference squad ahead of the 2019 regular season. He was the Winnipeg High School Football League’s Currie Division offensive player of the year in 2017, in which he led the division in rushing attempts (180), yards (1,787) and touchdowns (14) to go along with an average of 9.9 yards per carry.
Scheibler also set the single-game Currie Division record for rushing yards (397) in against the Tec Voc Hornets on Sept. 27, 2017, and tied the single-game touchdown record (six) versus the Maples Marauders on Sept. 8, 2017. His eligibility expired after the 2017 campaign and he appealed but lost the appeal. “He is a physical one-cut runner,” Rifles head coach Geordie Wilson said. “Great addition to our team.”
